Vols Brutal Stretch Continues; CBS Delays

The 4-game stretch of brutal SEC games continues this week as the Vols will travel to Starkville, Mississippi to take on the #19 ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs.  After this week, the Vols will return home to host #1 Alabama then hit the road again to take on #3 South Carolina.

Mississippi State is undefeated, but when you take a look at their schedule there isn’t a good win on it.  The Bulldogs have picked up non-conference wins over Jackson State, at Troy, and South Alabama.  They have SEC wins over Auburn and Kentucky and those two teams have a combined record of 2-9.

Tennessee is arguably State’s toughest test so far.  The Vols must win this game or they will face starting 0-5 in the SEC for the third straight season.  I firmly believe that if the Vols lose this game then Derek Dooley will eventually be fired as UT head coach.

Tennessee and Mississippi State will kick-off at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on Saturday from Davis Wade Stadium.

CBS DELAYS

CBS announced on Monday that it is excercising it’s 6-day window to pick a game for it’s 3:30 p.m. time slot on October 20th.  The three games they are considering are:

#1 Alabama at Tennessee

#3 South Carolina at #4 Florida

#9 LSU at Texas A&M

I think they’ll end up picking the South Carolina/Florida game, especially if USC defeats LSU this weekend in Baton Rouge.  I can’t see it picking UT/Bama.  That game could be ugly and CBS doesn’t want to have another blow out on it’s network like it will have this weekend whent he Crimson Tide travel to Columbia to take on the Missouri Tigers.
