UGA By The Numbers

Tennessee travels to Athens this weekend for a huge SEC East matchup against the 5th ranked Georgia Bulldogs.  Let’s check out the Dawgs by the numbers:

Total Offense:  #13 (530.00 ypg)

Passing Offense:  #28 (287.50 ypg)

Rushing Offense:  #18 (242.50 ypg)

Total Defense:  #43 (343.25 ypg)

Passing Defense: #43 (207.75 ypg)

Rushing Defense:  #49 (135.50 ypg)

Georgia ranks 36th in the country in the 3rd down conversions (23/51, 45%) while Tennessee ranks 17th in the country in 3rd down conversion defense (18/63, 29%).  Tennessee ranks first in the SEC in 1st Downs.  Can the Bulldogs limit the Vols on first down?  Georgia ranks #21 in the country in first down defense.

SERIES NOTES:

Tennessee hasn’t defeated UGA since 2009.  The Vols won 45-19.  Jonathan Crompton was 20-27 for 310 yards and 4 TDs.

Tennessee hasn’t defeated UGA in Athens since 2006.  The Vols won 51-33 after trailing 24-14 at halftime.
