CANT CON A CON-MAN?

The age-old theory “You can’t con a con-man” didn’t hold true Tuesday night in Rupp Arena as 1 Kentucky (24-1, 10-0) defeated 7 Florida (19-5, 7-2) 78-58. Florida has hung their hats on the proverbial three-point hat rack this season but Kentucky proved to be the dominant team from three point territory. The Cats connected on 9-15 and held the Gators in check at 6-27.

Kentucky got off to a slow start but managed to take a 12 point lead into the locker room at halftime. The second half was a display of one lob after another as the Cats put it out of reach. Kentucky has won their last 3 games by a combined 103 points (2 of them on the road).

When asked if the Cats could be beat playing like this Doron Lamb responded, “Nah, no way it’s possible.” Doron continued his hot shooting scoring 18 pts on 6-8 from the field including 4-5 from 3pt. land.

Freshman PG Marquis Teague continued his improved play with his first double-double of the season with 12 pts. and 10 ast. “What about Marquis Teague? He’s playing, getting everyone shots. He played well.” said Coach Calipari.

Anthony Davis chipped in with 16 pts., 6 rbs., and 4 blks. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist added 13 pts. and 13 rbs. Kentucky will travel to Nashville Saturday and meet Vanderbilt at Memorial. ESPN’s College Gameday will cover the game and it is scheduled for a 9:00pm tip.

Notes:

*Bruce Pearl was in attendance at Rupp Tuesday night. It is rumored that he thinks Kentucky will get #8 this year.

*Kentucky extended the nation’s longest home court winning streak to 49 games.

*CBS Sports’ Jeff Borzello Tweeted early in the day Tuesday, “Kentucky isn’t beating Florida by 20, no matter what.” Uh Jeff……….nevermind.                Follow me on Twitter @bigblue_secjams
